It’s ironic that my sister and nephew were born on the exact same day and she is his godmother too. This birthday is very special for all of us because our grandmother is here with us celebrating. I love her so much and she will always hold a special place in my heart. She mostly raised me and my sisters when my mother left Haiti and immigrated here to the United States ,I was just two years old. She made me the woman I am today. I would give her the world if I could. Now the roles are reversed and I’m doing things she used to do for me such as comb her hair, help hair dress up , hold her arm when she is walking. And I’m so honored to be able to those little things for her. (Side note ) when my nephew saw my grandmother for the first time he was scared. I said go give grandma a hug ,He said I’m scared I’ve never seen anybody that old before omg how old is she ? she is gonna die ! I started to laugh I could not help it and My little sister said that’s not funny. Thank God grandma did not understand anything he was saying. He ended up giving grandma a hug and said I’m not scared of grandma anymore ,I love my grandma. It was My little sister and brothers first time seeing our grandma too. My little sister speaks very good creole therefore she communicates well with my grandma. My little brother on the other hand understands it , but he doesn’t speak it. But sometimes He tries to . Grandma says he is very attentive to her needs he keeps checking on her all the time , asking her if she needs something to drink or eat. He is a very sweet little boy .
